NorthWind Land Resources Inc. is an environmental consulting firm with offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Peace River and Athabasca and a field office in Edson, Alberta. We are currently looking for an Intermediate Contaminated Sites Specialist based out of Edmonton or Calgary to add to our strong team of environmental professionals. This position will include both field and office duties with the split dependent both on season and individual program requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience planning and completing Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and remediation projects, possess a strong understanding of the current contaminated sites regulatory framework in Alberta, and be willing and able to share their expertise through the training and mentoring of Junior staff.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, coordination and field supervision of Phase 2 ESA and remediation projects
  • Assist Senior Project and Program Managers with the overall management and delivery of assessment (P1/P2/P3 ESA) programs
  • Supervision and training/mentoring of junior staff
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies and landowners
  • Implementation of corporate and client safety programs
  • Report writing and review for NorthWind’s assessment and remediation projects
  • Preparation of work plans, budgets, technical memos, and letters
 
Required Qualifications
  • 5 -10 years of assessment and remediation experience in Alberta
  • Degree or Diploma from a reputable post-secondary institution
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with AIA and/or APEGA
  • Expert knowledge of Alberta Environmental Criteria and Guidelines
  • Experience managing a wide range of upstream oil and gas projects
  • Experience communicating with private landowners
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to excel in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Available to travel
  • Valid Alberta drivers license
  • Background/experience in land reclamation will be considered a strong asset
